Just a few
weeks from the release date, March 3rd, Nintendo Switch has unveiled a little
bit more. After we knew the new console will have a particular online service,
this time the president of Nintendo confirm that NS won't have a web browser.
In an
interview with Time, Tatsumi Kimishima said: "In terms of the internet
browser, since all of our efforts have gone toward making Switch an amazing
dedicated video game platform, it will not support it, at least at
launch,"
This is due
to Nintendo focusing solely on building a gaming console rather than random
one, although there is hope that something might be launched in the future.
Nintendo
has admitted it was challenging to create the Wii U's browser; the company may
have decided that in order to meet its deadline, a browser wouldn't make the
cut.
However,
this might complicate things:the Switch is billed as a system that can be
taken and played anywhere, but without a web browser there is no way to access
public Wi-Fi networks that require a sign-in from a browser. In addition, the
fact that the switch is robbed from a web browser has annoyed the fans.
Actually, there is enough gadgets - smartphones, smart TV, tablets that relativize the lack. In contrast, we won't have access to YouTube or Netflix which gave us the possibility to benefit from its offline content, it was supposed even then to watch our favorite movies outside, on 720p display.

For
everything related to multimedia we need to forget the switch, assuming we
cannot blame Nintendo for making a 100% gaming related console.
That said,
you have to ask whether the Switch really needs a web browser. A browser takes
up a lot of system memory, so not having one ensures that the console will be
working solely on gaming, something that’ll be particularly important when it’s
in tablet mode with regards to impact on performance and battery life.
We tend to
turn to our phones to look things up online when we’re gaming, as it doesn’t
pull us away from the moment – and considering the quality of the browsers
available on phones right now it’d be difficult for Nintendo to compete.
This latest
Nintendo Switch news has raised concerns among fans interested in playing the
console online while on the go. “Public Wi-Fi typically requires the user to
sign into a portal. Without a web browser how are we expected to open the web
portal and sign in,” one user wrote on Reddit. Others debating the problem said
they hoped some form of pop-up option would be incorporated into the Nintendo
Switch, much like in Android and iOS devices.
Some also
pointed out that whatever Nintendo plan to do, hackers are almost certainly
going to cause a few problems.
To conclude, in the interview, Tatsumi Kimishima mentioned virtual reality, he explained
Nintendo is making researches about it in order to find the best approch in
terms of gaming experience.
Meanwhile,
Nintendo took the opportunity to publish a detailed video about The Switch
